From: Bishop Watton, and leaders of the Congregation
Greetings in the Name of our Lord.
Friends, throughout our Diocese, many of our Churches are facing similar challenges: Our communities are shrinking as people move away, fewer people who remain in our towns attend Church, and people who are connected to the Church getting older and tired.
In many places these few faithful folks are trying to keep churches open, and provide services and pastoral care for everyone. This is the situation at St. James. A small group of faithful people have realized that without community interest and support of people who live away, St. James Church building will not be standing as a sign of faithful community for the next generation.
You may choose to support the Church for different reasons. Many of us have cultural memories of our own past. We all have memories of how important the Church was to our parents and Grandparents. Others see the building as an outward sign of devotion to God, and the caring love of our Saviour in a community. Some just love the idea of preserving old buildings in our communities.
Either way, we need your help, if St. James is to continue to remain open.
The leaders of our Church have committed to addressing the most pressing current need. The roof is in desperate need of reshingling. We have an estimate of just under $30,000.00 and that money needs to be raised quickly.
