The Diocese Mission Statement

The Anglican Diocese of Central Newfoundland
in response to the Love of God is called
to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ
by worship and sacrament, by word and action,
under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Following Jesus we are led to be a Servant community which ministers and witnesses in the world to the transforming power of God’s love.

The Diocese Land Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge the land on which we gather as the as the unceded, ancestral homelands of the Beothuk and traditional territory of the Mi'kmaq. We also acknowledge with respect the diverse histories and cultures of the Mi’kmaq, Innu, Inuit and Southern Inuit of this province. In Newfoundland and Labrador Indigenous people still face many barriers on a daily basis. We urge all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to educate themselves and others about the history of Indigenous people within the province and seek to address the challenges that Indigenous peoples still live through. We recognize the benefits we receive by living on this land that is traditional territory of Indigenous people, and acknowledge our need to learn what our presence has cost first peoples. We commit to unbiased learning through respectful listening to cultural teachings, wisdom and stories offered in hope of community, reconciliation and justice, sharing a common hope that all barriers will be recognized and broken, and the rights of the Mi’kmaq, Innu, Inuit, and Southern Inuit of this province can be upheld and respected.
