strengths of the team

The CEIVINDICO team is multilingual and multicultural. Even if the working language will be English, we will also be exploring digital communities that are formed upon languages and cultures the team is familiar with: Spanish, Italian, Romanian, Finnish, Polish and Russian. The team has published widely on (digital) environments articulated around these languages (and thus different ways of understanding the world). According to Google Scholar, the team has published more than 90 publications, which have received considerable attention from the research community (the team’s total number of citations is 224 and holds a h-index of 12). The team is also experienced at organising international conferences and workshops around different topics pertaining to socio-discursive digital communities, which guarantees a rewarding unfolding of the academic forum the team is seeking to organise.

CEIVINDICO’s core members have examined the main social issues at the core of this project (gender equality, LGTBIQ+ rights, populism and migration) from a socio-discursive perspective. The team will also count on six external advisors’ valuable help, who will guide the core members in areas where more informed opinions will be required. We are fortunate to count on early career PhDs with a technical understanding of global and climate change (Dr. Verónica Cruz-Alonso, Harvard; Dr Javier Fernández-López, UMASS Boston), political studies, sociology and migration studies (Dr. Belén Fernández-García, Málaga University; Dr. Rusten Menard, Portsmouth University; and Dr. Marcin Gajec at the Jagiellonian University, respectively) and forensic linguistics (Dr. Lucia Busso, Aston University). The external advisors will also be part of the scientific committee and convene the corresponding conference sessions in due time.

The team is diverse at heart. Apart from the different cultures, languages and fields of expertise, the team is balanced in terms of gender and there are several gender identities represented as well.
