Foundations of the Restoration
A study of foundational revelations, doctrine, historical events, and people relevant to the unfolding Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ as found in the standard works, the teachings of modern prophets, and Church history.
The Eternal Family
A study of the central role of the family in the plan of salvation as taught in the scriptures and the words of modern prophets—particularly “The Family: A Proclamation to the World.”
Missionary Preparation
Missionary Preparation is designed to help students prepare for full-time missionary service by focusing on the doctrines, principles, and counsel found in the scriptures, words of the prophets, and Preach My Gospel.
Guidance from the Living Prophets
A study of the principles and doctrines of the restored gospel as taught by the current First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
The Temple: Preparing for and Understanding
Whether you are preparing for your first temple experience or your hundredth, this class will expand your understanding of the ordinances and covenants made there.
Choir
Choir members rehearse and perform selections of sacred music at performances that include Institute Devotionals and concerts. There is a Monday/Wednesday and a Tuesday/Thursday Choir.
The Divine Gift of Forgiveness
Based on the book by Elder Neil L. Andersen, this class will help you feel the priceless love your Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son have for you.
The Art of Personal Revelation
President Russell M. Nelson has repeatedly urged us to "put in the effort to learn how to receive personal revelation". He has said, "in coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting and constant influence of the Holy Ghost". In this class we will put in that effort and learn for ourselves how to seek and receive personal revelation. We will do the "spiritual work" to understand how the Lord speaks to us personally.
Parables of Jesus Christ
Sowers and reapers, mustard seeds and leaven, treasures and pearls—these are some of the symbols Jesus Christ used as He taught in parables. “Who hath ears to hear, let him hear” (Matthew 13:9, 43), the Savior invited. This class will give you opportunities to study parables, to discover their spiritual meaning, and to look for ways to act on what you learn! Come closer to Jesus Christ through His parables!
Teaching in the Savior's Way
This course will help students learn how to teach and how to do so in the Savior's way.
Come Follow Me/Book of Mormon
An in-depth study of the Come Follow Me curriculum and revelations received by prophets in the New Testament.
Returned Missionary Seminar
This seminar is composed of topics that are directed towards returned missionaries, but all are welcome. Topics covered include discipleship, education, dating, and more. Refreshments will be served following the seminar each week.
24-30 YSA Gathering
This seminar will address a wide variety of topics such as adjusting to college life, church culture, finding common ground, and more. Refreshments will be served following the seminar each week.
Roaming Class
Attend ANY two Institute classes at ANY time (or one night class) each week, and report in through this class to get an Elective Institute credit!
This class is perfect for those with complicated or rotating schedules. Sign up for this class, then attend any two Institute classes (or one night class) each week - any class, any teacher, any time! You can go back to the same classes time after time, or pick a new one each day - it is totally up to you!
As you attend a class text Brother Huff at 801-691-9933 to report your attendance and he will record your attendance and make sure that you get credit.
Healing and Strength in Jesus Christ
*Formally called "Hope and Healing in Jesus Christ"
How has learning of Jesus Christ helped you find rest in hard times? How has His grace enabled you to move forward with strength beyond your own? What is Jesus Christ’s role as the Master Healer? What might it mean to be healed from sin, both the effects of our own mistakes and the damaging effects of the sins of others in your life?
In this class, we study these questions as they relate to difficult topics, such as: recovering from abuse and other trauma, developing positive self-worth, identity development, forgiveness of yourself and others, overcoming addiction, and managing depression and anxiety to find peace. Not shying away from any real-life concern, you will be encouraged to trust the Lord and accept His invitation to “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
Couples Seminar
Any couple is welcome to attend - dating, engaged, or married! Here is our schedule for each month:
1st Tuesday, a dinner-date
2nd Tuesday, a gospel discussion on a relevant topic
3rd Tuesday, a game night
4th Tuesday, a guest speaker
Finding Answers to Spiritual Questions
All gospel-related questions are welcome in this course. We will take some time learning how to approach questions with faith, and then practicing with questions and topics selected by the class!
