Frequently Asked Questions

How do I keep track of attendance?

What is the best way to have students interact with each other during class?

  • Students in person can discuss in small groups while remote students work in Zoom breakout rooms

  • In-person students can log into Zoom and type in chat with remote students OR use headsets to talk with remote students (in person students will need to spread out to avoid feedback)

  • In-person and remote students can collaborate using Padlet, Feedback Fruits, Packback, Google Suite or other programs

What is the best way to get immediate student feedback?

  • Remote students can type answers in Zoom chat, and in-person students can raise their hands or write on the board.

  • Use Poll Anywhere to have remote and in-person students respond on computers or smartphones.

  • Have remote and in-person students respond to polls in Zoom.

How do I give tests or quizzes?

  • In class: The remote students will need the quiz to be online, so it would be best to have in-person students take it the same way, using computers or tablets.

  • Online: Students can take it on their own time, outside class. Here are some tips to prevent cheating in online quizzes.

Note: Either method will require planning for students who have accommodations for testing, such as giving extended time for all quizzes or giving special access for individual assessments.
