Practicum II Reflection 

Conclusions:  I had an excellent semester in my practicum II rotation.  The primary care office where I completed clinical time saw many patients and gave me the opportunity to practice hands-on skills.  This rotation, I felt that I had begun to merge my theoretical knowledge with skills and clinical assessment to recognize patterns.  As a result, I was quicker in developing differential diagnoses, finding research to support my claim, and formualting a treatment plan.  My confidence grew as I saw patients independently, documented SOAP notes in the electronic medical record, and ordered labs and other tests.  My preceptor allowed me to take advantage of my time during clinical so I could act as independently as possible while still being safe to ask questions.  

Recommendations: Next rotation, I want to manage more complex cases and complete more procedures as an NP student.  I completed two PAP smears this semester and I truly felt more confident in my abilities to complete sensitive gender-health exams.  As I stated previously, I learn best by taking a very active role in my education. I want to complete tasks and see patients in the same way that I will as a licensed practitioner.  I feel that with each successive independent patient encounter, I will only further my knowledge and improve my mutlitasking and time-management abilities.
