(6/11/24) - (Samuel)
Hi guys its your boy Samuel in the building. Writing the blog solo today! I have no friends... JK! So today I woke up later than usual because on the previous day we were hard at work cutting grass, so we were extra tired. For breakfast today we ate Mexican styled scrambled eggs with a tortilla and some cereal. Also the Kung-Fu fighting song was stuck in my head all morning.Â
After breakfast we had morning session, we got into devotional groups where we talked about justice and how everyone deserves justice. After morning session, we were split into our two teams, blue and yellow and sent off to our separate ministries. Today we swapped with the other group, so today I (blue team) went to Hope Zone and yellow team went to Casa Esperanza to cut grass. One bumpy car ride later we were high up in the mountains at Hope Zone ready to work. Assuming you already read yesterdays blog, you know what they do. The owner of the place, Oscar, who was also the translator for us when we visited the local church. Told us what we had to do for the day, our group was split into three groups. Brian, Thomas and I were going to dig 2 by 2 by 2 feet holes lead by Wyatt. This was where the fence was eventually going to be. The girls were in put in charge putting fiberglass panels around the house and removing the wooden borders around the windows. The other Sam and Conner, our translator were sent inside to organize and clean the kids room. Digging the holes were very tough, we kept running into big rocks that we had to break through using a giant metal stick, pickaxes, and shoves. Brian developed a method of jumping and ramming the stick down to break up the dirt and shatter the rocks. While I had a method of using water to loosen and soften the soil, before using the shovel to dig and repeating. The soil was tough and rocks very hard to breakthrough, so it took us very long to make progress. Meanwhile Uncle David was being gangster and using a power saw to remove metal bolts around the window fencing. There were sparks everywhere and it was very fuego. While he was doing that, the girls were helping Oscar measure out the fiberglass and carefully placing them onto the outside walls and securing them on. While doing this pincher bugs were flying out from everywhere, as they were hiding in the cracks. After a while of hardwork, we were ready for lunch! For lunch we had the usually ham and cheese sandwich. I added potato chips inside mines, it was muy delicioso. After lunch we got straight back to work, other Sam and Connor helped with securing the fiberglass panels and finishing the holes. Then it was time to play with the children, yippee! First, we performed a skit about the fall of Jericho for them. Then we played a fun hand slappy game to help the kids remember the story. Then we got into a big circle and Jasmine asked some head, heart and hands questions to the children. Connor was translating the WHOLEEEE THING. At the same time the dogs were going everywhere and playing the children. After that we took out the speaker and danced the superman dance. After the dance, it was time for us to go home. We said our goodbyes to the children and packed our stuff. Wyatt, our driver just came back from the store with more supplies for Oscar.
After are extremely non bumpy, nonchalant ride down the mountain. We made a quick pitstop at a supermarket where Uncle David, Auntie Connie, Bri, and Connor went down to pick up beans, rice, and more food for our trip to the dump tomorrow. While they were shopping, we yapped about what we wanted to do in the future, Pokemon, and Boise, Idaho, which is where Sam was from. He likes eating potato, especially the brown ones with dots on it. Sam is weird. Then we drove back and I took a quick shower before eating dinner. In our room, Allen was being a naughty naughty, saucy boy. So we had to discipline him by spanking and tickling him. He liked it bro trust. Anyways dinner was tortillas, rice, peppers, and chicken. Then after some chill time, where I DESTROYED Ethan in spikeball(hes capping he got beat-ethan). It was time for evening session, Ivan (with an accent on the a) talked out justice and how we shouldn't feel obligated to show justice but want to show justice. Then we worshipped for 1 HOUR straight, it was epic and we were all touched by the Holy Spirit. Amen! In conclusion, today was EPIC. I can't wait for tomorrow, now its time for me to sleep, goodnight everybody, sweet dreams, don't let the bed bugs bite. Buenos Noches!
