Mission Day 7

Day 7 - Mon 6/18/18 (Jeff, Angela & Poh)

Today is the final day of our Mexico YWAM Mission Adventure STM. In the morning, we had our regular morning devotion on the Cost of Discipleship and Purity. We talked about cheap and costly grace in our Christian walk with God. Through the discussion, we hope God will stirred the heart of the youths and challenge their Christian faith. Hopefully, the Holy Spirit will work in each individual heart and inspired them to strive higher in their Christian faith.

As for purity, we discussed how we can be a slave to sin which leads to death, or we can choose to obey God, which wold lead to righteous living in Romans 6:15-18. By staying pure, we can waste less time being sinful, and be able to enjoy more time living in the light by the power of the Spirit. The key take away however was that it's not what we do, but what Jesus did. His death paid the price of our sin and his life enabled us to be like him.

Our morning meal consisted of oatmeal, sausage, bacon and fruits. We are thankful for the wonderful and tasty meal provided and served each day. After our breakfast, the entire YWAM team went to the beach to have our individual time of prayer and seeking the Lord. This helped the youth to have a quiet moment with the Lord so that they can gather their thoughts and reflect their experience and encounter with God for this trip. The sound of the ocean wave really calmed our minds and spirit. We had a wonderful moment with our Lord in the morning.

After spending about 30 minutes on the beach, we headed to our final mission destination which was called: "El Sambrador" or "The Sower" which is a man's rehab center for drug and alcohol addicts. We had been in this center two years ago and it's wonderful to be able to come back and visit with the people there.

One of our youth teams then helped built a 8-10 feet high wall to partition a big room into 2 smaller rooms. They also built a double stacked bunk bed for the people there. We then painted the wall and bunk bed with a fresh new coat of paint. It was a memorable experience for our youths to construct a wall and bunk bed completely from scratch. The youth had a wonderful time pounding nails into the wood as well as the concrete during the build so that sparks were flying all over which was so amazing!

The other youth team then took off and went on a local neighborhood prayer walk by knocking on doors and giving out food, fruit as well as the John 3:16 coins to various people as well as praying for them. All the youth went out of their comfort zones to pray for the people which was so encouraging.

In the evening, we had a tasty beef taco dinner followed by a wonderful sharing of the highlights of this mission's trip by the various teams. Our team won second place out the the 6 teams which we were all very proud of our efforts.

We then had a wonderful time of worship and we strongly believe that God has helped plant the seeds for many lost souls here and that the youth all had a memorable experience with this STM.
