Mission Day 5

Day 5 - Sat 6/16/18 (Jerry & Eric C)

We awoke to a cloudy and drizzly morning which is a bi unusual for this time of year. However, after a hearty breakfast of biscuits, eggs, and ham, we all took the shuttle bus to Prayer Mountain. All the three CCIC churches (TV, SV and Cupertino) were grouped together to participate in the Prayer Mount prayer and Street Evangelism event.

We worshiped and prayed together as we asked God regarding the city's needs and its people so that the city will be open to our street evangelism. It was quite incredible watching people focusing their minds on God, as they prayed earnestly by themselves or with a group. Some people were even in tears as we put our hearts together.

We then descended the mountain at around midday, just as Jesus sent his disciples down the mountain after showing them his holiness. After a quick lunch at MacDonald's (as we would donate our regular lunch consisting of the regular ham/cheeses, PBJ) sandwich along with snacks, fruits and water bottle to the various people at a busy local park. Along with the food items, we would share the gospel as we've learned prior to the STM trip with the help of our three translators as we spit into three groups.

The street evangelism experience was a foreign yet rewarding experience for us all. For many of the youth, this meant taking a huge step out of our comfort zone and to conquer the doubt and fear in our hearts. Although many of us were a bit timid and unwilling to share at the beginning, however, eventually we all mustered enough courage and strength to step out of our comfort zones and reach out to the people.

It was also very interesting to watch, see and hear the response of the local residents. Some responded with open rejection by politely declining our offer and walked away. Yet many people did opened their hearts up to Jesus, and even a few shared their own stories with us. It was so inspiring to see how many of these people, although some are crippled, dirty, and not as well off as we are, were willing to receive the our message.

We got back to the base and rested for a bit and had a sumptuous cheese burger with fries dinner. After that, we all practiced for our worship service and testimonies in preparation for the Sunday Service at a local church tomorrow.

We all then walked to Taco Pueblo for a night cap of local authentic flavored taco at a cost of around $1 each. What a great time and productive day we had today. Please pray for us for good weather on Sunday and that our presence and voices would warm the people's hearts.
