Thank you for your interest in the book Canadian Community as Partner. We have created this blog so that we can not only update the content in the book and provide new information as it becomes available but also share stories about how students and community health workers of all disciplines have used the Canadian Community as Partner (CCAP) model and process for their community projects.
In this blog, we will return to various chapters in Section 1 (Theoretical Foundations) as new material (e.g., research, facts, figures) becomes available from the literature and from contributors. We invite authors of those chapters to contribute to these updates, opinions and reflections.
Several chapters in Section 3 (Community as Partner in Practice) of the book depict instances of student work:
Chapter 22: Youth engagement in community planning
Chapter 24: Flood disaster response in Calgary
Chapter 34: A community college dental hygiene program supports Victoria’s underserved population
We would like to share more of these stories, so please let us know about your experiences in health education that use the CCAP model and process in practice (Section 2).
Contributors in Section 3 come from all parts of Canada – from sea to sea to sea – and from many disciplines and have written about many health issues and health promotion programs. We want to hear from more community health workers as well. Please share your experiences, thoughts and insights with us. We have one contributor from outside of Canada (Brazil) and we welcome more stories from other countries.
