We are excited to announce that the 5th edition of Canadian Community as Partner: Theory and Multidisciplinary Practice will be on the shelves in early January 2021.
We express our appreciation to Judith McFarlane and Bets Anderson for their model of the community as a partner in health; we have used this model as the foundation for all five editions of this Canadian book.
Also for this edition, I welcome Suzanne Jackson as co-editor. I have known Suzanne for many years through the Canadian Consortium for Health Promotion Research (CCHPR) and from our years of working together on the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) Board. Suzanne has an international reputation in population health promotion action and research and brings this expertise to this and future editions.
This book could not have been created without the contributions of the 68 people that provided the 38 chapters that comprise this publication.
In the first section of the book, authors set the foundation for community practice.
In the middle section, the Canadian Community as Partner (CCAP) Model is animated so that practitioners and community members can carry out health promoting projects and programs in their neighbourhoods with people who are trying to meet challenges of disease or injury prevention and social justice/health equity for their citizens.
In the final section, authors from across Canada share their stories of using the CCAP Model to work with communities and populations on important public health issues.
