End-of Year Tournament

The format of the End-of-Year Tournament is played over two days, using the best score for each hole played over the two rounds. Members playing in the End-of-Year Tournament can participate even if they can play only one of the two rounds. The make-up day can only be used in the event of inclement weather for Rounds 1 or 2, and not as a make-up round for missing one of the scheduled dates.

Tournament Rules

Teams for the Captain’s Choice Tournaments will be created with an A, B, C and D player based on handicap. Prizes will be awarded to the four (4) best team scores. All other tournaments will use a player’s course handicap for the Raleigh Golf Association course based on the World Handicap System formula (See Handicap Rules section). Four flights will be created by the Playing Handicap of those who play, with prize money being awarded to the Low Gross score and the best 3 Low Net scores in each flight. Ties for each scoring group will be resolved using a “scorecard playoff” starting on the #1 handicap hole and progressing by hole handicaps, in order, until the tie is broken. Tournament Prize Eligibility: All are eligible for Low Gross and CTP; you must have a GHIN Handicap for Low Net.

Registration for tournaments will be available two weeks prior to the event. For team tournaments, flight assignments will be made by RGA using USGA/GHIN Data.

If you are registered for a tournament and discover you will not be able to play, please notify RGA as soon as possible, even as late as the day of the tournament. If you have not registered for a tournament, you may come to the course and be able to fill in for any participants who do not show up.

As indicated in the League Rules section #7b, you must continue to play your ball until it is holed or the 3 over par rule comes into effect. No gimmies nor Mulligans are allowed during tournament play.

If there is inclement weather and less than 50% of those who signed up to play in a tournament show up, the tournament will be canceled. Players who show up may still play as directed by RGA management.

Tournament Handicap Rules

The handicaps for tournament play will be based on the GHIN HCP index for the player and the rating for the tees to be played for the round.
Any player who does not have an established handicap (GHIN or other Certified Handicap System) will be assigned a handicap of zero (0) for tournaments.
