Constitution

ARTICLE I Name
1.01 The name of this organization shall be CARY SENIOR GOLF ASSOCIATION and this organization shall be sponsored by the Cary Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department as described herein.
ARTICLE II Headquarters
2.01 The headquarters of the organization shall be the offices of the Cary Senior Center of the Cary Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, Cary, North Carolina.
ARTICLE III Purpose
3.01 To afford clean, healthy, recreation and fun through the game of golf. Proficiency is not one of the requirements; however, the improvement of one’s skills is hoped for. Knowledge of, and practice of Golf Etiquette is expected of all members.
ARTICLE IV Membership
4.01 Full membership is open to anyone who has reached his or her fifty-fifth (55) birthday. (Refer to BYLAWS, ARTICLE III, Membership relative to “Associate Member” requirements).
ARTICLE V Government
5.01 The business of the organization shall be vested in the Board of Directors elected at the Annual Membership Meeting.
5.02 The Board of Directors shall consist of ten (10) members, including: Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Away Events Chairperson, Tournament/Rules/Handicap Chairperson and four (4) Members-at-Large. The Cary Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department representative shall be an ex-officio member of the Board, but that person shall not have voting rights.
5.03 Each member of the Board shall have one (1) vote.
5.04 All Board members shall be elected for a one-year term at the Annual Membership Meeting. There are no term limits on Board membership.
5.05 Regular meetings of the Board shall be held in January (Annual Membership Meeting), October, and as called by the Chairperson.
5.06 The Treasurer shall submit a financial report at the Annual Membership meeting held in January.
5.07 A Nominating Committee of four members shall be appointed by the Chairperson, composed of past Chairperson and three (3) members of the Association. A slate of candidates for a) Chairperson; b) Vice Chairperson; c) Secretary; d) Treasurer; e) Tournament/Rules/Handicap Chairperson; f) Away Events Chairperson; g) Technology Chairperson; and h) 3 Members-at-Large; shall be submitted by the Nominating Committee at the Annual Meeting. The Chairperson shall then preside over an election. Newly elected officers shall take office immediately follow ing the election.
5.08 A simple majority vote of members present shall be sufficient to make any election or action of the board official, except when otherwise provided in the Constitution and By-laws of this organization.
ARTICLE VI Amendments
6.01 Amendments to this Constitution may be recommended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of Board Members and shall be approved by the majority vote of members present at the Annual Membership Meeting.
