In this project, we had to research an emerging technology. I chose virtual reality. We had to research why it's important, how it affects everyday life, the advantages and disadvantages, the potential risks and their management, and the latest news. I pick virtual reality as I'm a really hug fan of the teach.
An interesting fact I learned about VR while researching is how widely it's used nowadays in fields beyond just video games, such as teaching doctors to perform surgery and showing students a Google Earth simulation. It's just really cool how a piece of hardware can do so much inside such a small headset.
Lessons Learned:
Throughout this lesson, I learned many things from my own research, other people’s presentations, and creating my own PowerPoint. I now understand how to use the Designer tool in PowerPoint to help with the arrangement and design of my slides. Before, I usually followed the slide formats PowerPoint provided and added photos wherever I thought looked best. Additionally, I gained a lot of knowledge about virtual reality and how it is being used to improve my daily life. I found it especially interesting how VR is used in certain hospitals to help reduce a child’s pain and anxiety. Although there are some cons to VR, in the long run, I can see it being used to help everyone.
