2019

During a dinner at Cafe Brazil a friend who was randomly having dinner there too asked what I thought of the Charter Amendments. I didn't even know about them. They were concerned about having to live in the city a full year verses the current 6 month requirement. As I read down the list I saw #11, which would add sexual orientation & gender identity to the protections for employees of the city. I was stunned that no one on council had let us know this was under consideration. In the end, the council decided to make this an ordinance and not a charter amendment which would have required a full city vote.

This was the level of stupidity that was sent in response.

This truck was seen in the DFW area....

In the end the City Charter amendments were shelved but the City Council passed the same rules by Ordinance. This allowed the 7 member council to vote on the issue instead of the whole city. In the end we won 5-2.

At our meetings we learned why the Census was so important to our community.
