The following video explores the use of LA's Totally Awesome for the purpose of emulsifying gum and other hard candies caught in carpet fibers. Additionally, it can be used to remove candle wax, red Gatorade stains, kid's homemade slime and other various mystery stains in area rugs, carpeting and upholstery. Although there is no substitute for specifically formulated spotters, LA's Totally Awesome does provide and inexpensive alternative to use as a 'Hail Marry' or for a specific purpose known to work. However, a professional carpet cleaning technician should always practice a level of discernment when dealing with dollar store products in customer's sight.

When dealing with a piece of gum or tacky candy adhering to caret fibers, emulsification is generally the best option. Moistening the affected area with LA's Totally Awesom will help to begin the emulsification process. Once applied, use a blunt object to cut grooves into the candy or gum. This will allow the solution to seep inside, furthering the emulsification process along. In many situations, the contaminants can be scraped and scrubbed from the surface of an area rug, carpeting or upholstery.

Having no idea how much residue the solution contains, always practice IICRC specifications by thoroughly rinsing the area with water. As with any cleaning solution, always test an inconspicuous area testing for color fastness.
