Each student learns in varying capacities. They have diverse aptitudes for learning in distinct learning styles. These learning styles can be categorized into these main subgroups: auditory, visual & tangible. Within the multiple intelligence genres, there exists these eight subsets: Verbal/Linguistic, Musical/Rhythmic, Logical/Mathematical, Visual/Spatial, Bodily/Kinesthetic, Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, & Naturalist.
All that to say that learning styles are critical to understand the student's development process. Each person is individualized to their own need and receptive dispositions towards learning. Each person has their own attitude and beliefs in which we need to incorporate their style into our lesson planning. With the broad range of learning styles and learners, we as teachers, need to incorporate further still a broader range of activities, books, resources, contemplative discussions, viewpoints, crafts and assignments to "graft them in" and expose them to the learning path of their potential!
My learning style based on a recent learning style inventory that I took at educators.org, can be found here.
My personalized multiple intelligence results on a recent inventory that I took with the Rogers Indicator of Multiple Intelligences can be found here.
