Quotation From Helen Barrett
Portfolio Purpose:
Provide students a common thread that connects the TE courses from first semester Ed Sem to the last semester Student Teaching.
Connect the content of the program capstone assessment (the Professional Learning & Teaching (PLT) exam), to TE course content to better prepare students to think conceptually for this assessment.
The portfolio begins as a "working portfolio" to house all student work and resources. It replaces the collection of 3-ring binders, plastic totes, and file cabinets that most teachers use to house all the materials they acquire.
Create a Student Teaching application presentation (STAR) that provides accurate assessment of ST readiness and supports the licensure process.
As students progress through the program, they begin to personalize their portfolios and transform them into a "professional portfolio" to use during their job application process.
Portfolio Template Structure:
This portfolio is structured conceptually according to the components (tabs) on the Praxis II PLT exam - Principles of Learning and Teaching - which is taken during the student teaching semester.
Refer to the study companion documents for the PLT to help you organize the material in your portfolio by reviewing the indicators and benchmarks under each component (listed on each tab's page).
