Using multimedia to tell stories is something I am still admittedly getting comfortable with. Written journalism will always be dear to me, but it is important to recognize the stories that can be told with my iPhone and a CapCut Pro subscription. Using multimedia to create videos has been an amazing learning opportunity for me.

This holiday-themed “Service Spotlight” video focuses on the Toys for Tots drive and the importance of giving back during the holiday season. In the video, my partner and I explain the purpose of the drive and highlight ways community members can contribute. We documented our experience purchasing toys to donate and interviewed service club leaders about local opportunities for involvement. Through these interviews, viewers learn about specific events in our area where they can donate or participate in community service. The video also incorporates graphics, pop-ups, and music to keep the audience engaged and reinforce the message that even small acts of generosity can make a meaningful impact.
This is an interview with the Waklefield wrestler who won the North Carolina state championship. He won for the second time in a row. This was in need of coverage because that is such an incredible accomplishment. I set out to speak with him and wanted it to be filmed as I found it more authentic and focused on his victories. This was also posted on our Instagram page to expand its outreach. Many of this wrestler's friends commented, showing their support. This shows how important coverage of him is to help boost the unity of our Wakefield community.

This feature video highlights a Wakefield student who serves as a leader in FCCLA and whose contributions to the organization deserve recognition. In the video, my partner and I interviewed both the student and the FCCLA adviser to provide multiple perspectives on his role and the impact of the program. Hearing from the student allowed viewers to understand his leadership and responsibilities, while the adviser offered insight into his dedication and influence within the organization. The story also introduced viewers to FCCLA and demonstrated how this student’s leadership positively affects the Wakefield community.
