NETWORK OF OLD-GROWTH FORESTS

Creation of a network of old-growth forests in the national parks of southern Apennines (2012-2017)

The project was implemented within the framework of the Biodiversity Directive of the Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea Protection of Italy, and was principally aimed at integrating the national list of old growth forests defined in 2010.


The specific objectives were:


· Assessing and integrating the existing list of old growth forests

· Setting a monitoring network

· Defining ad-hoc monitoring protocols

· Comparative analysis of old-growth forests
