COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT(SERVICE LEARNING)

Community engagement (Service Learning) is a key component of the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) at GESS, empowering students to apply their skills and knowledge to real-world challenges. Through meaningful projects and partnerships, students develop a deeper understanding of social responsibility and global citizenship. This page provides all the essential information on community engagement, including opportunities, requirements, and how it integrates into the IBCP experience.

SERVICE-LEARNING IN THE CP:

Throughout their two-year journey, students are encouraged to dedicate at least 50 hours to Service Learning. When orchestrating Service Learning opportunities, the aim is to empower students to:

👉 Engage in addressing genuine community needs through their own initiative.

👉 Recognize Service Learning as a twofold process, emphasizing both learning and service.

👉 Foster leadership skills through collaborative problem-solving.

👉 Cultivate empathy and responsibility as active community members capable of meeting the needs of others.

👉 Engage in reflective practices to gain deeper insights into themselves and the world.

👉 Recognize the interconnectedness between Service Learning and other aspects of their CP course, enriching their overall educational experience.
