The IB Careers-Related Programme (CP) offers students a range of post-GESS progression routes including university and college admission around the world. As our students (and their families) begin planning for university applications, it is important to remember that the nature of the IBCP means that there is a wide range of individual academic profiles possible within the framework of the award.
For universities considering an IBCP student’s eligibility for admission, IBDP Courses (and levels of study) are particularly significant within their individual IBCP profile, as is the Career-Related Study (CRS). The IBO offers clear guidance relating to future university plans for students following the IBCP programme. They comment that ‘the flexible nature of the IBCP means that universities tend to review applicants on a case-by-case basis’. In addition, they recommend that students contact universities of interest well in advance of applying to discuss whether their combination of IBDP courses and CRS would be considered by the university.
At GESS, we will work closely with IBCP students seeking to contact university admissions offices to enquire about eligibility for admission based on their individual IB CP profile.
