In accordance with RA No. 11223, all hospitals must establish a Public Health Unit to support national public health programs, coordinate with primary care networks, and provide patient navigation support. This unit aims to protect health by preventing disease and injury and promoting community well-being. It also implements the Hospital Surveillance System as mandated by the RA No. 11223.
Functions include:
Aligning hospital policies with national public health programs.
Assisting hospital management in disease surveillance and reporting through designated officers.
Ensuring proper patient referral and navigation within the hospital and to external care facilities.
Implementing health education programs.
