Conversation from "The Critical Role of Librarians in Enterprise Data Management" Question Sheet - LIS 657
We watched the panel titled The Critical Role of Librarians in Enterprise Data Management in LIS 657 consisting of 5 different corporate librarians, working within businesses, corporations, and in office settings. They speak on teaching and learning within their corporations, how their positions within these spaces are determined by prioritizing the needs of their patron groups; they have become vital to the functioning of the corporate settings they work in. The librarians' problem solving is in response to how their user groups respond to, informal and formal, instructional and reference situations that occur day to day. These are my reflections and observations on the conversation that these 5 librarians had in the recorded webinar.

Ferguson's Career Guidance Center Instructional Video - LIS 620
The Cabarrus County Public Library System, through NC Live, gives patrons access to an extensive career and professional development resource/database. I created this instructional video for the patron user groups of the Cabarrus County Public Library System. Targeting older, adult patrons that might need to access this resource, I gave a walk-through style tour of the database, explained the searching options, and showed the types of materials available within this resource. This video is also embedded into the Frugal Living and Savings LibGuide created for the LIS 620 LibGuide assignment.

Ready Reference Sources Group Project Reflection - LIS 620
My group and I for LIS 620 presented on ready reference sources and led the class discussion on this subject. I delivered instruction on Aggregator Reference Databases, and conducted a few demos on databases such as Credo Reference, Gale Ebooks, and Oxford Reference. This paper is a reflection of my experience working within our group and presenting, highlighting what I learned, what I could do better on for next time, and if I was able to hit all the most important points. I also shared my observations, and spoke on my peer's performance and presentation styles in our goals to teach the class.
4.5 Support Patron Learning through Effective Instructional Communication
Online Chat Exercise - LIS 620
In this activity, I met with Dr. Jo in an online chat exercise for LIS 620. The purpose of this exercise was to give us a first-hand experience of what it's like to answer reference questions using chat. It took me a while to properly understand what the "patron" was asking, but I eventually got there. This was my first time doing a reference interview over chat and I learned that the lack of benefits that come with in-person reference situations made understanding what the "patron" was requesting a bit harder to grasp. This was a teachable moment for me, and I know for next time not to assume that I know what a patron is asking for in this context of online-chat.
