Project Management Group Assignment - LIS 650

For this project, my group and I for LIS 650, took on the task of planning a library remodel for the J.A Jones Library at Brevard College. We developed a detailed plan to renovate the building, making it more approachable, and our mission for this library remodel is outlined in our group's project scope statement. Our planning document is 36 pages long and consists of a charter, scope, budget, project plan, presentation, a Gantt Chart, brainstorm page and a working bibliography.

Special Collections Dossier - LIS 681

For this assignment we were meant to select a special collections and examine/assess it's services, collections, access, preservation and outreach initiatives. In this case, I selected the Rhode Island School of Design, Fleet Library, Special Collections. Here, I outlined the history of this special collections, it's user group and how their experiences with the RISD special collections are essential to the institution. Student work is a big driver of outreach, as this special collections host a book making competition as promotion for library services, and as a way to grow their collections. They are also enmeshed with the art institution that they belong to, as the special collections are built into course work and the curriculum.

CCPL Frugal Living & Financial Literacy LibGuide - LIS 620

This LibGuide was designed specifically for the Cabarrus County Library System community. Targeting the user groups of young families, families new to the area, and those looking to retire soon. Where other towns and cities might have more resources through the library for their diverse groups, this easy to access guide addresses services, products, collections, and information available through this public library system to the diverse set of specific user-groups listed previously.

Lesson Plan for Access and Outreach in Archives - LIS 681

This was a lesson plan for a presentation on Access and Outreach, this presentation was based around the course readings for the week and ended with a student led discussion. We highlighted the importance of outreach for organizational institutions, and how collections and life long learners can benefit from outreach initiatives. We also went over the relationship between the two, and why it is important to recognize the need for an institution to open it's doors, broaden it's user groups, and acknowledge barriers to access for outside groups. Suggesting tools for outreach such as panel discussions, guest speakers, exhibits and public readings, all to spread awareness and promote library collections. 

For the student led discussion, we designed an activity where we separated the class into groups, gave them different archives to analyze, and had them come up with an outline for an outreach program tailored to their archive's specific user-groups.
