What is a Canadian Permanent Resident visa?

Express entry : The express entry program handles applications for permanent residence for immigrants who can apply for employment where there is a shortage of skilled Canadian workers through specific economic immigration programs. 

Business immigration : Canada’s business immigration program is for those immigrants and newcomers who have experience in owning, managing, or investing in businesses in Canada. 

Family class immigration : Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor family members to immigrate to Canada through a number of sponsorship programs. 

Canadian experience class : The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an immigration program designed to assist foreign students and temporary workers in using their education and work experience to support their applications for permanent residency. 

Provincial nominee program : Workers with the training, education, and work experience necessary to support the economy of a particular Canadian province or territory are eligible for the provincial nominee program, or PNP. 

Receiving a Canadian PR card :

Your Canadian Permanent Residency can be used to show that you have PR status in Canada. When returning on a commercial conveyance, such as an airplane, boat, train, or bus, after traveling outside of Canada, you must show both your passport and your PR card. Before returning to Canada by commercial vehicle, those who are traveling outside of the country without a valid PR card or who are not carrying one must apply for a permanent resident travel document. 

A PR card is usually issued for five years but can sometimes be issued for one year instead. It is good until the card's specified expiration date. PR cards are exclusively sent by Canada to domestic addresses. You might occasionally need to visit one of the Canadian government's offices to pick up your card. You can request that your PR card be reissued if you discover an error. If a name is too long to fit on the card, we occasionally shorten it.
