Govert

My name is Govert Verhoog and here at the University of Twente I serve as the Programme Director of bachelor and master Health Sciences at the faculty of Science & Technology. Outside my work at the University of Twente I am a father of four teenagers and a mentor (orfake-father’ as we call it at home in a fun way) of two, and I live in Enschede. I started working at the UT in 2016 after many years of working at Saxion (lecturer and course director physiotherapy) the Roessingh Rehabilitation Center (physical therapist; people with spinal cord injury, MS) and in the USA (mentally and physically challenged children). I hold a master’s degree in educational science as well.

I am a candidate for the University Council, aiming to contribute to the university's strategy and policy as an employee representative. I am motivated to discuss the significance of internal and external developments and challenges, and where necessary, translate these into new or revised policies. I approach this with respect for the diverse perspectives and interests of those involved, which I strive to understand fully.

As a representative, I feel it is my responsibility to actively engage with various stakeholders on different topics, to understand their views, concerns, excitement, and questions. This inclusive approach ensures that our policies are well-informed, balanced, and reflective of our community's needs.
