Bumps & Bruises
Do you have any bumps and bruises experience (a.k.a. being a parent) and are looking to volunteer at Camp Live Oak?
While we welcome those with medical knowledge for our volunteers at camp, these aren’t formal doctor visits or nurse visits.
Our expectation is that volunteers can handle basic first aid.
Duties will include:
Use of over the counter products to help students, staff and families with minor ailments (cuts/scrapes bug bites, stomach upset, seasonal allergies, headaches)
Help students with their prescribed medications. First Aid station will hold onto meds. Students will come to the station to take their prescribed dose. Volunteer will log it in the book. We are not writing prescriptions, changing dosing, making adjustments to prescriptions.
Keep basic log with name of person helped: One line of summary of the issue & what was done to help.
Support kids to rest when feeling unwell, overheated, exhausted.
Call parents for anything that needs more
Advantages:
It is an easy way for you to help out at camp.
Location in Central Central means you’ll get to say Hi to all the other kids/families/staff around so there is also lots of support if there is a problem.
We’ll be sure to have list of family contact info, working phone, & working walkie-talkies.
Overnight shift gets nice quiet bed. No driving off site, no setting up a tent!
