This unit is about understanding and creating graphics. You will use software such as Photoshop and adobe illustrator. You will design and test graphics with a array of different purposes. You will also review other graphics such as poster and manuals.
The first learning goal is the ability to understand the applications and features of digital graphics. You will cover a range of different graphic products from posters to video games. You will explore their effect on different audiences and what they enjoy or dislike for example. You will learn about vector and bitmap images and the differences between them. And other information such as file type and size composition and resolution.
The second learning goal is to design digital graphic products. You will be sketching your posters and manuals as preparation for their creating. You will be making manuals, posters and editing assets for them. You will need to consider the targeted audience and other design choices you will learn about.
The final learning goal is to create and review the graphics products. You will need to prepare your assets and put together your posters and manuals. You will need to think about changes you want to make for the final manual and other changes you might need to add because of unexpected issues. And finally you will need to review your and others graphics and provide feedback.
This unit has 3 assignments that will be graded by our tutor and two others. These assignments will usually be a planning, developing and refinement assignment. They will be marked by our tutor, an internal source and a external source. You can achieve the highest grade by providing a very detailed and overall quality piece of work per assignment.
