In this unit you will be leaning about the hardware inside of devices such as touch screens and printers, and the internals of a computer such as the CPU, RAM, GPC and more. You will explore different types of operating systems and software such as communication, resource management and utility software. You will also learn about software businesses use such as CAD and CAM to develop graphics and manufacturing plans. This unit is great for people seeking a future career in ICT.
The first learning goal of this unit is to understand the applications and issues with technology systems. Such as the application of technology in healthcare, finance and manufacturing. You will also lean about computer hardware devices such as, PC, severs, laptops, input, and output devices, storage devices and how they all work. You will also cover computer networking and data transferring.
The second learning goal is to understand how data is transferred between internal components of a computer. This will include the understanding of data flow from and to components such as the CPU, RAM, GPU and more. The third leaning goal is to understand different types of software. You will have an introduction to computer programming and learn what different types of software is for.
This exam will be taken on a computer and will last for 1 hour and has a total of 50 marks. You will be given a random selection of questions that will give a total of 50 marks. There are different types of questions, pass questions will give 2 marks, merit will give 4 marks, and distinction will give 8 marks. Some questions will be multiple choice, spelling and a paragraph describing something such as what a computer is.
