GSL2014 CLINICS
Model Railroad Digital Photography – Basics Class
Learn the basics of digital photography for shooting your layout or prototype trains. Covers camera basics, composition, lighting, focusing and more. Bring your camera!
Modeling the Real West
Designing and building typical scenery for western United States prototype railroads. The clinic covers backdrops, fascia, landform construction, color, and ground cover.
Tools, Tools, Tools
Tools can easily be the most important part of enhancing your modeling skills. Join us as we explore various modeling tools and supplies, ranging from basic (like exploring the workbench), advanced (for example, calipers and material organization), moving to exotic (punch and die sets and scribers to name just a few), and concluding with power tools (slow speed drills and mini sawz-alls for instance). Modeling tips will also be discussed during the seminar. Examples of many of these tools will be available after the clinic for inspection and trial.
Signaling Your Model Railroad Part 1, 2 & 3 / Interfacing a Computer to Your Model Railroad / Sunset Valley Oregon System Updates and Operation (5 Different Clinics)
For a complete description of the clinics Bruce is giving see the post “Bruce Chubb to Present 5 Different Clinics“
Dr. Bruce Chubb is a Master Model Railroader and the author of the model railroading books, How To Operate Your Model Railroad, The Computer/Model Railroad Interface (C/MRI) User’s Manual and the two-volume Railroader’s Applications Handbook – a complete thesis on railroading applications. A retired electrical engineer in digital systems applied to aerospace, he is currently occupied full time building and operating his famous Sunset Valley Oregon System to model ten prototype railroads operating in the Pacific Northwest.
Creating Spectacular Scenery to Overcome Scenery Challenges
The trestle at Sulphur Gulch is an illustration of the type of scenery I will describe. Whetstone Ridge rises from a few inches above the floor to 6 feet. Whetstone Ridge hides a helix which connects the staging yard that serves both ends of the point to point railroad.
Scratchbuilding
A chance to see tools, templates, jigs, and techniques that are presented in the CallBoard in the Scratch Building Corner. I am working on having Chris Blackmarr, who does the weathering section to the article, join me.
Foreground Pine Trees
Have you ever wondered how those trees were made? You know, those beautiful ones right up front with tons of detail? Now’s your chance to see Al’s techniques for how he does it.
