MODELING TIPS
When cutting door and window openings in styrene for a building project, it’s important to keep to keep the openings close to the correct size and square. To accomplish this, I first use a pencil, scale ruler, and a square to layout the opening.
Next I use a new, sharp blade in an Exacto knife and a straight edge to score the pencil marks.
Continuing with light strokes of the blade, I soon cut thru the .040 styrene. It is important to get the cuts all the way through at the corners by turning the blade at closer to a 45 degree angle. Then, with a minor amount of flexing, the opening will pop out.
