Santa Fe #5000, the first 2-10-4 Texas type built for the road, and 2-10-2 #3873 climb the 3.5% grade on the north side of Raton Pass with a westbound freight extra on May 18, 1946. Pushing at the rear of the 37-car train is 2-10-2 #934.
