The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) was proud to host the Low Altitude Economy (LAE) Forum 2026 yesterday in Putrajaya, bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, researchers, technology innovators and key stakeholders to explore and shape the future of Malaysia’s low altitude aviation ecosystem.

CAAM extends its sincere appreciation to the Minister of Transport, YB Loke Siew Fook, for officiating and launching the Forum, and to all speakers, panellists, participants and stakeholders whose valuable contributions and strong support made the event a success. The overwhelming participation reflects the growing interest, confidence and momentum surrounding the development of Malaysia’s Low Altitude Economy.

As Malaysia moves forward with its LAE agenda, continued collaboration among government, industry and academia will be essential to unlocking new opportunities, driving innovation, and ensuring the safe, orderly and sustainable integration of emerging aviation technologies into the national airspace ecosystem.

The conversations and insights shared at the Forum mark an important milestone in Malaysia’s LAE journey and set the stage for even greater opportunities and possibilities ahead.

The CAAM Authority Members’ Strategic Retreat for 2026, held on 2 December 2025 at Dewan Kuliah, Malaysia Aviation Academy (MAvA), Sepang, provided a focused platform for the Authority Members and CAAM Senior Leadership team to deliberate and align on CAAM’s strategic direction for the coming year. Chaired by Dato’ Mohamed Sharil Tarmizi, Chairman of CAAM and attended by Authority Members together with Dato’ Captain Norazman Mahmud, Chief Executive Officer of CAAM, and the senior management team, the retreat covered robust discussions on CAAM’s 2026 strategic priorities, proposed strategic initiatives, financial budget and comprehensive manpower planning. The Chairman emphasised that CAAM’s strategies must deliver tangible benefits to stakeholders, particularly aviation industry players, and that all initiatives should be clearly linked to CAAM’s core regulatory and oversight functions as mandated under the Act, ensuring that CAAM continues to fulfil its statutory roles and responsibilities.

The retreat also put strong emphasis on developing internal capabilities by nurturing younger officers and building a sustainable talent pipeline, while also complementing this approach through targeted recruitment of experienced professionals from the industry. This balanced strategy aims to ensure that all CAAM personnel are provided with fair opportunities to enhance their competencies, progress in their careers and contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s long-term goals. The retreat concluded with a group photo session and a dinner gathering, providing an opportunity for informal engagement, reflection and strengthening of leadership cohesion in support of CAAM’s future aspirations.
