(1) If you are holding a single-entry visa (usually with 90 days validity) and plan to leave the country, you must apply for the re-entry permit either at the Immigration Division 1 (Immigration Bureau), Chaeng Watthana Rd., or at the Airport. Otherwise, you visa will render "invalid". As a result, you will not be able to re-enter Thailand, and you will have to start your visa application process all over again.
(2) You have to cancel your Non-ED visa before applying for the Non-B visa.
(3) To extend your Non-B visa, your work permit must be valid, and to extend your work permit, your Non-B visa must still be valid as well.
(4) You have to cancel your Non-ED/B visa when you complete your fellowship and plan to leave Thailand.
(5) You are required to hand in your work permit (the blue book) to the Faculty of Engineering staff at the beginning of the 11th month of your fellowship for either extension or cancellation. Failure to comply may result in the delay of your salary payment.

If you are admitted to the postdoctoral fellowship program under the old scheme, you will continue to hold your ED visa until your fellowship period is completed.
Non-B visa holders will be following the same instruction as the ED holders for the time being while a dedicated page for Non-B is still under construction. Please inform the Eng OIA staff which visa you are holding and adjust your information accordingly.
Never let your Non-B visa expires, because when you need to renew your work permit, you will be required a valid Non-B visa.
Never let your work permit expire, because when you need to extend your visa, you will will need to present a valid work permit.
These two items are tied together.
