Beatrice isn't the type of woman to conform to traditional values, preferring to stand on her own feet than box herself into a marriage. Despite not appearing to be marriage material, it doesn't mean Beatrice wouldn't consider it for the right man. Whilst reserved, Beatrice isn't above risky moves to defend those she loves. Being the eldest of three sisters; Beatrice has a sense of duty to protect them. Forever loyal, Beatrice has a good heart. She will use the skills her father taught her to fight for what she holds dear.
Father: Lord Matthias de la Rouge
Mother: Lady Angelica de la Rouge
Sisters: Lady Lucina de la Rouge, Lady Marcella de la Rouge
Friends: Athos, Aramis, Porthos, D'Artagnan, Constance, Sylvie, Queen Anne
Open to shipping with male muses canons and ocs, will be based of chemistry and probably a slow-burn. Particularly open for the canon musketeers to develop from friends to lovers (more so Athos, Porthos & Aramis - I feel she'd have more of big sister bond with D'Artagnan)
Trained in sword fighting and shooting by her soldier/musketeer father
Childhood friends with Athos
Loves wildflowers of any kind, her father used to bring them back for her
Beatrice's sisters have very differing personalities. Beatrice is headstrong and reserved. Lucina is the rebellious and flirty middle child - often gambling and partying. Maricella is the soft and kind youngest - preferring no violence.
The bullet that grazed her as a child left a small scar on upper arm. She also gains scars across her back after her near death experience with a serial murder.
After her sister's murder, Beatrice grew to hate lillies. The sight of them is very triggering for her (she has some lingering PTSD from the event and her own near death experience).
Beatrice de la Rouge is the eldest daughter of Lady Angelica de la Rouge and musketeer/soldier Lord Matthias de la Rouge. Despite her noble standing Beatrice is her own woman not conforming to traditional values. Beatrice is a childhood friend to Athos, and a strong friend/ally to the Musketeers.
Childhood & The Red Harpers
Beatrice grew up in the noble Rouge household never knowing poverty but indulged in adventure. With her father being a soldier/musketeer, Beatrice was raised on stories of his adventures. Also being the eldest, her father instilled in her a sense of duty to protect her sisters. Her mother a sense of independence, having grow up on the streets her mother only had herself to rely on before she met Beatrice's father. She instilled in her daughters the confidence to make their own choices.
Before moving to Paris, Beatrice's family grew up in a house on the same lands as Athos' family. They grew up playing together as children, their friendship continuing long into adulthood.
At around 12 years old, Beatrice and Athos uncovered a criminal conspiracy. Stories had spread out of Paris of a criminal warlord leading a gang called the Red Harpers. They stole, pillaged and killed many - their targets mainly women. One night, Beatrice and Athos spy on Beatrice's father's cousin Marcus de la Rouge. Under her father's roof, the two discover that he is the leader of the Red Harpers. Spies discovered and true colours on displace, Marcus chases the two into the night - armed and ready to kill. Beatrice is grazed by a bullet on her upper arm in the chase as the two rush of into the woods.
Cornered and afraid, Athos tries to protect his dear friend - putting herself between the injured Beatrice and her father's mad cousin. Luckily musketeer, Matthias comes to the children's rescue - arresting his own cousin.
A few years later after that fateful night, Beatrice moves with her family to Paris to be closer to her father and further the family business. Her and Athos still remain in touch - visiting each other often.
In her later teens/early twenties, Beatrice's father Matthias tragically dies in combat - leaving his estates to his wife, Angelica and three daughters (instead of letting it go to his brothers - Angelica has been running their jewellery trade in his stead for years).
Milady de Winter
Beatrice was initially incredibly welcoming to Athos' new bride, offering her kindness and affection. But after Athos' brother Thomas' murder at her hands, Beatrice becomes incredibly disillusioned with Milady and angry. Less so for the murder itself, but more so how she has broken Athos' heart with her lies.
Beatrice is aware of the hanging, but isn't in attendance despite wanting to be to support Athos. But as this time he pushed her away, not reconnecting with the noble woman for some time.
The Musketeers
It's a few years later that Beatrice finally manages to reconnect with Athos who is now a Musketeer in Paris. Despite his best attempts to push her away, Beatrice makes to make way back into her dear friend's life. Through this persistent, Beatrice befriends Aramis and Porthos.
By the time D'Artagnan joins, the Rouge family are very much firm friends with the Muskeeters. The three sisters often coming to visit or get involved in their missions, Beatrice especially.
Red Harper's Resurrection
During the events of Season 1, Beatrice and Lucina are attacked. Managing to escape the two sisters come to the Musketeers garrison for protection. It's here Beatrice reveals in secret that one of the men was carrying a Red Harper's sigil.
Milady has aided Marcus in escape from hanging, giving him a chance to get his revenge against the de la Rouge family and Athos - her plan to get revenge against them both as she blames Beatrice for enabling Athos' hatred for her.
Unusually rattled, Beatrice turns to her friends for help to protect her family. Unfortunately Marcus claims the life of her sister Maricella's handmaiden, Gertrude - display her body graffically inside the Rouge home.
The entire affair ends with Beatrice and Athos facing Marcus in a showdown together. With Beatrice running Marcus through with a sword to protect herself, Marcus dying in minutes. It is during this time that Beatrice learns Milady is still alive, the two coming face to face as Milady's hatred of her shines through. Wanting the noble woman dead as much as Athos.
Sunflower Despair
During the events of Season 2, disturbing events sweep through Paris. A awful killer is targeting the women of the city, leaving behind white lilies in their bedrooms before torturing them for days before dumping their bodies near the river.
Unfortunately he sets his sights on the youngest Rouge daughter, Maricella. Now betrothed, Maricella's husband (a young blacksmith apprentice) comes home to find his betrothed taken and lilies in her bedroom. Despite Beatrice's and the Musketeers' best efforts, Maricella is found too late. Her body abandoned by the river, with Beatrice screaming in horror at the loss of her beloved little sister.
The loss is taken hard by all the Rouge's but it hit Beatrice the worst. Feeling responsible for failing to protect Maricella, Beatrice becomes reckless - aiming to make herself the next target so as to attempt to lead the Musketeers to her sister's killer. Her plan works, but barely as the killer is found and Beatrice is on the brink of near death. During the capture, Angelica de la Rouge arrives taking it upon herself to avenge her daughter shooting the man without mercy. On the official records, he was killed by the Musketeers as he tried to escape.
Returned home, Beatrice faces a tough recovery from her near death experience and torn apart by her grief - the guilt of Maricella's lose weighing heavily on her.
War
Beatrice becomes as much involved with the Garrison as Constance does over those four years. She helps train the recruits and works closely alongside Treville. When her dear friends return, Beatrice is overjoyed. Yet Paris has changed and she is a woman much more defensive (particularly remaining armed whenever she travels). Beatrice also gets involved with using her family fortune to help feed the poor and a lot of the refugees affected by the war- leading her and Syvlie to becoming good friends.
During the events of Season 3, Beatrice and her sister, Lucina are kidnapped by Grimaud and traded to human traffickers. A means to get to the musketeers, especially Beatrice's dear friend, Athos. His plan fails, the two sisters escaping thanks to the interference of Milady de Winter (who was secretly sent to investigate by Treville). Beatrice is surprised to see her face once more but speaks nothing of her involvement, knowing bringing her up to Athos would just cause more harm then good. It brings almost a sense of understanding between the two, perhaps a faint glimmer of the friendship they once had sparking for a moment.
Beatrice and her sister are nearly recaptured by the traffickers when their dear Musketeer friends come to their rescue. The two later join them in the fight against Grimaud.
New Beginnings
After the events of Season 3, Beatrice remains in Paris - offering her aid to D'Artagnan and Constance in helping to rebuild the Garrison. She takes more of a backseat in her family business these days, Lucina now taking charge. Instead Beatrice focuses her effort on aiding the people of Paris. Both with backing from her own family fortune and the Queen. She still stays in constant contact with her dear friend, Athos. Often going to visit him and Sylvie in their new life together.
