Information about the literature program can be found in the handbook on the official Ministry of Education Site and the English Portal. To the high school section of the English Portal an ‘Appreciation Of Literature’ appreciation tab was added which has many resources and has replaced the TLC site. Last year the handbook was divided into two parts; the Pedagogy section and the Requirements section. The handbooks can be found here.
From September a platform for digital logs and PPBL units will be available to teachers who would like their classes to prepare work completely digitally. Information regarding this platform will be sent to the coordinators by the Inspectors.
This year there were an additional two courses offered for Problem-Based Learning Tasks in English Literature. High School English teachers, who have experience teaching the Literature log, explored the third option for Module F, the Literature Initiative, worth 26% of the final Bagrut grade. The course included one face-to-face session and seven online sessions.
Problem Based Learning Tasks are defined as Alternative Based Assessment, which encourage a process of active research about issues that are relevant to the students’ world. The central component of problem-based learning is a practical issue that is relevant to the students’ lives, (not a theoretical issue), which the students need to research and study to suggest a solution.
The aims of the course are as follows:
1. become familiar with the theory of Problem-Based Tasks
2. learn the model
3. prepare a problem-based task for the classroom
