About us
The 4-H Program is a youth development organization that provides hands-on learning experiences to help young people develop important life skills. The program operates in every state across the United States, as well as in many other countries around the world. The program offers a variety of educational programs and activities, including Horse Project, Entrepreneurship Project, Dog Project, Cooking Project (ages 8-19 years), and the Cloverbud Project (ages 5-7 years). We were formed in 2005 in Tempe, Arizona (Maricopa County). For more information about Buena Vista Mavericks 4-H, please contact our Community Leader Cindy Martin, at Cindymartin4@cox.net.
The 4-H Program is open to all youth between the ages of 5 and 19, regardless of their background or experience. Members can participate in a variety of projects, clubs, and events that are tailored to their interests and needs. The program is designed to help young people develop a sense of responsibility, leadership, and community engagement, all while having fun and learning new skills.
The 4-H Program is supported by a network of volunteers, educators, and partners who work together to create a positive learning environment for young people. The program is also a 501-C-3 non-profit organization, affiliated with the University of Arizona - Maricopa County Cooperative Extension.
Overall, the 4-H Program is a valuable resource for young people who want to develop their skills, connect with their community, and make a positive impact in the world.

“To Make the Best Better.” It's intent is to inspire young people to continue to learn and grow, to make their best efforts better through participating in educational experiences. The 4-H motto supports the California 4-H YDP mission of engaging youth in reaching their fullest potential.
What does 4-H stand for?
The green four-leaf clover with a white 'H' on each leaf was officially adopted as the 4-H emblem in 1911, and patented in 1924. The 4-H emblem symbolizes the interactive nature of effective learning and development.
The four H's are: HEAD - Problem solving: ability to sort out complex problems. HEART - Emotional development: developing good attitudes toward work and learning; developing acceptance and appreciation of other people. HANDS - Skills development: ability to do, skill in doing and habit of doing. HEALTH - Physical development: understanding and appreciating physical growth and change The 4-H Name and Emblem are protected
