The Opt Out Process for 2023-2024

The parent letter is shared the first week of school and outlines the health curriculum for that grade level.  The letter contains the opt-out form for that grade level.  After reviewing all of the curricular materials, including learning outcomes and required resources, parents have the option of completing the opt-out form to indicate any lessons or units they would like to have their child provided with an alternative assignment.   We strongly urge parents to communicate concerns to the teacher to discuss their concerns and ensure that they fully understand the lessons or units of concernWe request that the form be used so that we can ensure that all requests are honored.  

Parents may also opt-out their child out of lessons or units at any time during the year, but are asked to provide at least two days notice so that the staff can make alternative arrangements for their child.  Parents of Grades K-5 students will be reminded of each unit with the teachers weekly and/or monthly communications.  Parents of Grades 6-12 students will receive the letter at the beginning of the marking period when their child has health and one week prior to any Famliy Life/Sex Education lessons.
