Information Page for 2026 Summer Trip to BSA High Adventure Camp @ Florida Sea Base. To make the trip easier, we've preliminarily decided that we will choose only between U.S. locations to avoid the need to pursue Passports for travel. This means we are looking at locations at Florida Sea Base in the Keys and Briton Environmental Center, also in the Keys, about an hour drive further down US Highway 1.

Florida Sea Base, Crew Size: 6-8, Min. Age: 12+
Your home for a week will be on a large sailing vessel over 40 feet long. During the adventure, you will be sailing the Florida Keys and have the chance to snorkel some of the most beautiful reefs in the Keys and part of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. You will also have the opportunity to study astronomy, navigation, fish identification, and coral reef ecology. So join us for the Coral Reef Sailing Adventure, sharpen your navigational skills and enjoy snorkeling and fishing all in one package.
Florida Sea Base, Crew Size: 6-8, Min. Age: 12+
Setting sail from Islamorada, crews will embark on three days of live-aboard adventure at sea. Upon returning to base, they will be housed in our eco tents with bunk beds and air conditioning. The remainder of the adventure will include days of snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding and a visit to historic Florida Keys sights.

Learn about and experience the amazing ecosystems of the Florida Keys! Your unit will paddle through mangrove forests, hike Florida State Park eco trails, spend two full days snorkeling, fish in the Florida Bay from 28ft. vessels, and build and race underwater robots all while learning to protect and conserve the largest wilderness on Earth. The Ocean. Imagine catching and tagging sharks, catching dinner, snorkeling turquoise waters, paddling, hiking, and spending time at the beach… with nights spent in air-conditioned dormitories. This adventure combines all the elements of our most popular multi-adventures. Ocean Exploration will show you the variety of experiences the Florida Keys has to offer. Your unit will snorkel, paddle through mangrove forests, fish in the Florida Bay from 28ft. fishing vessels, and spend a day sailing aboard our own catamaran sailboat! Each day is a new day, and each night will be spent in air-conditioned dormitories. If you’re looking for an action-packed variety of aquatic activities, look no further. Florida Sea Base, Crew Size: 6-8, Min Age: 12+
The Florida Keys are home to the only barrier coral reef in North America. Reef Trek will allow you to explore that reef ecosystem from above and below the waves! Serving both certified SCUBA divers and snorkelers, this trek is perfect for units looking for the best of both our sailing and diving adventures. The first two full days will be spent on a Sea Base Newton Dive Special either scuba diving, if certified, or snorkeling alongside the 6,000 other organisms and sea life in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary! After that, your unit will set sail aboard one of our 40 ft sailboats.
Florida Sea Base, Crew Size: 10-12, Min. Age: 12+
If you are looking for an up-close, hands-on educational adventure, then the STEM Eco Sailing Adventure is for you. Your crew’s home and base of operation for the week will be two 40’ – 45’ sailboats. From there you will launch into your undersea world of exploration by means of snorkel, mask and fins; kayak; fishing pole and glass-bottom viewer. You will discover and explore the wildlife and ecosystems of the four major marine habitats of the Florida Keys, study the plant and wildlife, and understand their delicate balance.
Florida Sea Base, Crew Size: 18-20, Min. Age: 12+
Designed for larger groups (either a council contingent or a larger troop), offering your crew the opportunity to experience a sailing adventure of yesteryear. These are large vessels, 75 feet or more, normally gaff-rigged topsail schooners, fully equipped and prepared to provide an unforgettable adventure snorkeling the beautiful Keys’ reefs, fishing, and hands-on sailing as well as a port-o-call in Key West. For a hands-on sailing adventure voyage, one that is exciting, ruggedly challenging, and excellent for larger groups, pack your sea bag for the Sea Exploring program.
Briton Environmental Center, Crew Size: 6-8, Min Age: 12+
Want to experience everything the Florida Keys have to offer? You will paddleboard, ocean kayak, sail, boat, fish, snorkel coral reefs, learn about marine ecosystems, travel to Big Munson Island for an overnight adventure and visit historic Key West. Every day is a new adventure! Other than your overnight on Munson Island, you will spend each night in an air conditioned dormitory. If you are looking for a program with a wide variety of aquatic activities, this is your adventure. This adventure is special needs accessible.
Briton Environmental Center, Crew Size: 6-8, Min. Age: 13+
Munson! Along with your assigned island mate, your crew will paddle a Polynesian war canoe more than five miles to a primitive barrier island located in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Upon arrival at Big Munson Island, your unit will camp under a canopy of gumbo limbo trees, mangroves, and lush vegetation. Your crew will ocean kayak, go for a fishing excursion, shark fish, paddle to Munson Rocks for a night snorkel, and explore the largest wilderness on Earth: The ocean.
Briton Environmental Center, Crew Size: 6-8, Min. Age: 12+
Have you always dreamed of being a marine biologist, oceanographer, conservationist, or a deep-sea explorer? This is the program for you. Your crew will paddle, snorkel and embark on the waters of the Florida National Marine Sanctuary aboard the “BSA Discover”, a 45-foot catamaran outfitted as a floating classroom designed to explore mangroves, sea grass beds and majestic coral reefs. You will gather hands on experience monitoring coral health and water quality, tagging sharks, rare plant surveys on Big Munson Island, and underwater robotics. This adventure is special needs accessible.
