Week 7: Developing your Skill Sharing

This week, we're going to continue developing our skills sharing activity and also start looking at Part B of the Arts Award which requires you to attend an Arts Event as an audience member.

Developing Your Skills Sharing

Please think about the different methods for skill sharing that we talked about in the sessions last week (live call, recorded video, Powerpoint, 'How to Guide') and think about what method you'd like to use for your skill sharing. Please fill in pp. 43-44 of the Log Book.

Part B: Attending an Arts Event

For Part B of the Arts Award, you have to 'attend' an arts event (this can be an online event, given current circumstances). One form of public art that we haven't looked at yet is performance art. In the Powerpoint below, we've given you links to recordings of three different performance art pieces from the Edinburgh Art Festival:

1) Dragon of Profit and Private Ownership by Walker and Bromwich (2017)

2) Calvin & Jogging by Calvin Z. Laing (2020)

3) 'SING SIGN: a close duet' by Hanna Tuulikki (originally commissioned in 2015, revisited in 2020 via Zoom)

You can choose one of these as your arts event or something else all together (see suggestions in Powerpoint). Please note we will be watching excerpts from these together in our sessions next week so there's no need for you to watch them in advance, only if you want to!
