Week 4: Public Artists

As part of the Arts Award Bronze qualification, you have to research an artist. This week we'll focus on lots of different artists associated with our collections, some well known names like Barbara Hepworth and Eduardo Paolozzi, and others who are less established. We'll ask you to choose the one you're most interested in to research more about for the Arts Award activity.

How to research an artist

This week we're going to complete Part C of the Arts Award Bronze which is all about researching an artist. Watch the video below from Marga for some tips on how to do this!

On p.33 of the Log Book you'll find a list of artists we've suggested you can research. In the document below, you'll find some resources you can use to research each of these. But if you want to choose your own artist to research you're absolutely welcome to do that too!

Please fill in p.33 - 38 of the Log Book. This will tell you what you need to find out about the chosen artist. We've suggested that you can make a Powerpoint Presentation about what you discover, but you're welcome to make a poster, an information sheet, or any other more creative ways you can come up with!

Dalziel + Scullion

You might remember in the first week, we looked at a sculpture in Dundee of a car covered with a tarpaulin by Dalziel + Scullion. If you're interested in researching them as your artists, you can watch this talk that they gave about their work recently, which the Scottish Society for Art History has very kindly allowed us to have access to: https://youtu.be/tpq4j8cQ8RU.
