Our project "Bright Careers" is about personality based career planning. It is really important for young people to choose a career and do a job which is suited to their personality. Choosing the right career also means a happy professional life. Many young people throughout Europe want to have a good career which reflects their personalities. After some research and discussions between our partners we have decided to exchange the good practices about career planning based on personality. This exchange is also linked to the objectives of our project. The main objective of our project is to encourage young people to choose a job which will make them happy throughout their lives. Besides, our project aims to encourage our students to become more aware of their personal traits, the level of their self efficacies and help them learn about the labour market and career opportunities in Europe. The projects also aims to help our students to acquire detailed information about their dream jobs and to learn about the management of the career planning process. It also aims to reduce the risk of early school dropout through effective career planning and the creation of highly motivated people who do their job enthusiastically.

They are joined by Prof Nabi Avci Anatolian High School Turkey, Escola Tecnica de Imagem e Communicacao Aplicada (ETIC) Portugal and New Cross College Ireland. In December 2022, the latest Bright Careers Mobility took place in Scoala Sfantul apostol Andrei Smardan in Romania. The project involve 4 countries, our hosts Romania and Portugal, Turkey and Romania. The theme of this mobility is 'Ted Talks' and the aim is to encourage our students to choose careers that reflect their personal interests, allowing them to enjoy fulfilling successful careers. During the week our students prepared presentations on their dream jobs, posters on personality based careers and creating profiles for future careers. They also delivered presentations on their own school and city as part of the activities.
Our students experienced Romanian culture, history, literature, music and hospitality throughout the week, visiting a number of different venues of historical and cultural importance. A visit to a number of local primary schools in the area was particularly memorable as we were showered with gifts and food and entertained with traditional songs and dances, all performed by the students. During the week we also visited a number of local sites of historical interest and the cities of Iasi and Botosani.
In February 2023 the latest Bright Careers mobility took place in New Cross College in Dublin Ireland. The Irish team were joined by their partners from Romania, Turkey and Portugal. The theme for this mobility was 'Job Interviews' and the aim was to enable our students to create effective CV's and to develop, improve, and practice their interview techniques. During the week the students worked on how to prepare for an interview and how to create a CV. They also worked with staff from a local business organisation, Business in the Community (BITC) on their interview techniques participating in practice interviews with feedback given afterwards. They also learned how to develop and expand their CV’s in order to give them the best possible chance of securing an interview for careers in areas of interest to the students. The students also delivered presentations on people from each of their countries who had enjoyed successful careers doing something they loved.
During the mobility the students also learned about Irish culture during a traditional Irish storytelling session and they participated in Irish Dancing lessons during ice-breaking activities. They also visted Kilkenny City and the UNESCO World Heritage site at Glendalough in Co. Wicklow. They learned about the social history of Dublin when they visited the Tenement Museum on Henrietta Street and explored the historic city of Dublin during a walking tour with their Irish hosts.
In June 2023 the final Bright Careers mobility took place in Escola Tecnica de Imagem e Communicacao Aplicada (ETIC) in Lisbon, Portugal. The Portuguese team were joined by their partners from Romania, Turkey and Ireland. The theme for this mobility was 'At Work' and the aim was to visit work places and experience the real work environment. During the week the students visited local work places in the area and learned about different jobs and talked to the people working in these areas. The students visited different departments in the college, the Communication Museum and the Oceanarium and spoke to staff member in each location. They explained what their jobs entailed, what qualifications they required and why they chose their individual career paths.
During their visit to the Communications Museum students also attended a presentation by the museum director who explained to them how she had arrived in her current post. This presentation was a powerful example of how determination and a clear goal can help an individual to enjoy a successful career doing something they loved. Students also experienced what it is like to work as a journalist. They had to prepare reports on the days events, converting them into journalistic pieces before presenting them in the TV studio.
During the mobility our students also visited a number of sites of historical and cultural interest including Cabo da Roca, a cape which forms the western most point of mainland Portugal and of western Europe. We also visited Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home of the Portuguese Royal families for many centuries.
