The second learning and training activity of the Bright Careers project took place from December 5th to 9th, 2022, and it was hosted by our project partner, and coordinator, Scoala Profesionala Sfantul Apostol Andrei in Smardan, Romania. The central theme of the week revolved around careers and Ted Talks. During this engaging event, students and educators from various participating countries came together to further the project's objectives.
Throughout these days, participants delved into the project's themes, exploring career opportunities and skill development, all while drawing inspiration from the world of Ted Talks. The exchange of ideas and experiences during this period was not only educational but also instrumental in building lasting relationships among students and teachers from different corners of Europe.
The event in Romania was an essential milestone in our collaborative journey, reinforcing the importance of international cooperation and the shared commitment to empowering students for their future careers.
On the first day, in the morning, we commenced with the opening ceremony, setting the tone for an exciting week ahead. Following the ceremony, we embarked on a journey of exploration, getting to know the school and its surroundings.
We also had the privilege of meeting the Mayor of Suharău. This activity took place at the Mayor's office, where we engaged in a meaningful discussion about various job opportunities in the local area. It was an enlightening conversation that provided insights into the economic landscape of the region and the potential career paths available to our students.
They have also discussed the job they had drawn, sharing insights and findings from the pre-trip work that each country's team had undertaken. This activity encouraged active participation and knowledge exchange, fostering a deeper understanding of different career paths among our international group.
The second day was packed with engaging activities. We had the opportunity to meet with authorities of the Prefect Institution and Inspectors of Botoșani county. This interaction provided valuable insights into local governance and regional perspectives on future job possibilities.
Following the meeting, we embarked on a guided tour of the historical city of Botoșani, exploring the area and gaining a deeper understanding of potential career opportunities within the region.
Our journey continued to Ipotești, where we visited the house of our national poet, Mihai Eminescu. This cultural excursion allowed us to connect with the rich literary heritage of Romania.
On December 7th, the activities included assisting classes in the vocational branch of the school. We had the privilege of engaging with students pursuing vocational education, offering insights, and sharing our own experiences.
Additionally, the students had the opportunity to present themselves, providing insights into their academic pursuits and explaining what they were currently studying. Furthermore, they took the opportunity to introduce their respective cities and countries of origin, offering a rich cultural exchange that enhanced our understanding of each participant's background and educational journey.
In the afternoon, we dedicated time to 'My Profile for the Perfect Job.' This activity allowed us to reflect on our individual profiles, strengths, and aspirations in the context of finding the ideal job. It was a productive and introspective session aimed at helping the students to better understand their own career aspirations.
On Thursday, we were presented with a fantastic opportunity to explore the schools nearby and its various classes in the area. The warm reception we received from both students and teachers was truly heartwarming. To express their hospitality and appreciation, they treated us to the melodies of traditional Romanian songs, filling the atmosphere with cultural richness.
As a heartfelt gesture, the students of the schools also presented us with gifts that they had skillfully crafted, all adorned with a theme befitting the approaching Christmas season. It was a touching exchange that further strengthened the bonds of friendship and camaraderie among our international group.
On that day, we also utilized the TEDed application to upload videos about our 'dream job' aspirations, allowing us to express our career goals creatively and inspiringly.
Furthermore, we embarked on the design of brochures and posters centered around the concept of 'Personality-Based Career.' The students actively participated in this task, showcasing their creativity and insights into how one's personality traits can influence their career choices.
In parallel, the teachers held a meeting to discuss and plan for future mobilities, ensuring the continued success of our collaborative efforts. It was a day filled with productivity and innovative exploration of career paths and educational initiatives.
In the evening, we gathered for a delightful dinner, offering a moment to forge bonds and get to know our fellow participants better. It was an evening filled with camaraderie, laughter, and cultural exchange, enhancing the sense of unity among our diverse group.
On the final day of activities, Friday, we set off for Suceava county. It was a day dedicated to exploring the area, immersing ourselves in the local culture, and delving into the rich traditions of the region. Our activities also included research into potential future job opportunities in the area.
The day was truly marvelous, offering us breathtaking vistas and unforgettable experiences. It was a fitting conclusion to a week filled with learning, cultural exchange, and the exploration of future career possibilities.
On Saturday, it was a day of departures. We felt a tinge of sadness as we bid farewell to Romania, but our hearts were overflowing with gratitude for the wonderful people we had met and the precious moments we had shared. The warm reception and hospitality extended by our Romanian partner will forever remain etched in our memories. It was a week that not only enriched our understanding of careers and cultures but also deepened the bonds of friendship among us all.
