Carnival in El Ejido

Task 1

Hi there,

Thank you very much for your infographics! We’re so sorry that Carnival has finished.

The event in El Ejido is celebrated every year 40 days before Easter. Last Sunday people

mourned the sardine, the joy of Carnival. However, the stunning thing for us is the

importance of the sardine in the whole festivity because here the burial of the sardine is on

Ash Wednesday.

In El Ejido there is a parade to the main park of the city where the sardine is burnt. It ends at

lunchtime with grilled sardines and music.

This year El Ejido surprised the participants in the costume contest with a huge chocolate

sardine. We’re glad to know that you have eaten this huge chocolate sardine.

Make sure you write back soon.

With Love,
