For 7th Grade science:
Dear Families, This is just a quick update to let you in the Fall we will start a new unit on Physical and Chemical Change. The physical and chemical changes involved in making chocolate is the driving idea behind this unit. Watch this video to find out more. I use both district, hands-on-materials and Stile (an online, interactive science platform) that your student will log into at the start of school in the Fall.
For 8th Grade science:
Dear Families, This is a quick update to let you know we’re accelerating into a new unit on Newton’s Laws of Motion in the Fall. Newton’s Laws and how they can be used, from investigating car crashes to space exploration, are the key focus of this unit. Our major assessment task is a creative project that involves explaining one of Newton’s laws to help non-scientists understand it. I encourage you to discuss this topic at home. Here is a way to connect the learning at school to home: - Discuss forces that occur in the home - Head out to a sporting event or amusement park and identify the forces in action. I use both district, hands-on-materials and Stile (an online, interactive science platform) that your student will log into at the start of school in the Fall.
