Grand Canyon National Park is truly amazing. When I first visited, I said that “I’ve been to the Grand Canyon”. Now, I’ve “done” the Grand Canyon. If you’re in shape for it, then do it. Michele and I visited the Grand Canyon as she moved back to CT to begin grad school. We left from San Diego and drove across southern AZ.
Hiking the full trail from the south rim, down to the ranch, perhaps to the north rim and back again is as brutal as it is rewarding. You will hurt, for sure, but once completed will have done something that a select few can claim.
Hiking form South Rim down South Kaibab to Phantom Ranch. We spend the night at Phantom Ranch and went half-way up North Kaibab to the North Rim. We exited Phantom Ranch to South Rim via Bright Angel.
