The District has identified four creative sectors with strong potential for growth:. These sectors represent the unique city attributes in the creative economy.
Painting, sculpture, photography, design, and crafts that express ideas through form, color, and texture. Visual arts enrich communities by sparking dialogue, preserving culture, and shaping shared identity.
Live, embodied storytelling that combines movement, voice, and stagecraft. Dance and theater create immersive experiences, connecting people through emotion, rhythm, and narrative.
Food as both craft and culture. Culinary arts blend creativity and tradition, turning ingredients into experiences that nourish body and community, celebrate heritage, and spark innovation.
Writing in all its forms—poetry, fiction, nonfiction, spoken word. Literary arts preserve memory, provoke thought, and build empathy by shaping language into stories that resonate across generations.
The Bremerton Creative District prioritized a limited number of target sectors where early action is most likely to produce measurable results. However, several other segments are counted within the broader creative economy and represent some of the largest and most economically significant categories in Bremerton. These segments are not currently targeted for District-led strategy development, but they remain important to the overall creative ecosystem and should be tracked as part of long-term growth and workforce planning.
