Every dragon (and human) turned to look at Canyon.
“That’s why Mirage never really acted like my mother,” Canyon whispered, looking down at the ground. “I could feel in my heart, something about her being my mother just wasn’t…right.”
He looked up at his real mother, not for the first time noticing the similarities between them. “That and the color of my scales. Too golden yellow to be inherited from Mirage, and I don’t think that Mirage would’ve fell in love with an AquaDragon,” he added.
Cactus chuckled. “That you are very correct about. Mirage was almost always against cross-tribe relationships…but she was OK with mine, I guess. Either that, or she just didn’t want to be the one to rat out the Queen…” Cactus said, tapping her claw against her chin as if thinking hard.
“So that means…” Sage took a deep breath. “Canyon! You’re a prince!”
