· “The Role of Referrals in Admissions: An Information Perspective” with Colleen Flaherty Manchester and Anders Frederikson: Referrals provide signals to selection committees regarding applicant quality. This piece investigates if referrals can compensate against stigma related to gender, race, country of origin, and low GMAT scores in order to increase one’s likelihood of selection.

· “DEI Backfire in Low Diversity Climates” with Karoline Summerville and Carmella Lennon: DEI efforts benefit organizations, however their recipients often face backlash or stigma for their participation in these programs. This paper proposes a model of the processes and how they unfold.

Future Research:

· “What are you?: Racial Ambiguity as a Source of Discrimination in Hiring Decisions”:

This piece investigates the discomfort felt by hiring managers in hiring processes when they cannot use racial stereotyping in order to determine if ambiguous race applicants receive preferential or discriminatory treatment.

· “Vouch for me? Referrer Selection as a Form of Impression Management”:

Referrals have been found to increase one’s likelihood of admission into MBA programs. However, little is known about how applicants choose a referrer. This piece investigates the role of prestige in choosing a referrer as a function of a potential referrer’s race, gender, employer, and job position.

· “Employees’ Responses to Social Identity Threats in the Face of Diversity Reputation Crises”: Organizational reputation crises have yet to be studied in terms in diversity. This piece investigates the differential psychological effects of targeted and non-targeted groups of a newly introduced construct, diversity reputation crises.
